Im currently looking for a home in central NJ. My budget is anywhere from $325k-$425k. Im looking at Monmouth County (Hazlet,Tinton Falls,Middletown,Matawan etc.) I chose these areas b/c of the lower home prices and more for your dollar with big yards and cleaner looking neighborhoods and good schools. Any advice or information on these or other areas similar to the ones mentioned earlier when it comes to getting to NYC for work? I am looking for a mother/daughter or a home that can convert to mother/daughter. I will be commuting to Manhattan so I need easy access to the train or bus in the area. I checked nj transit and wow what a difference in price from the nyc subway lol. Any tips on saving $ when using nj transit? Thanks in advance.
I am in the same boat. I am leaning towards hazlet , middletown cause of the better schools and just the area seems nicer. Hazlet is convenient to Airport Plaza which has the express bus to both downtown and midtown nyc.
The only way to save money on NJ Transit is to buy a monthly pass. It's going to cost you around $200-$300/month to commute from the areas you mentioned, depending on whether you go bus or train, where you park, etc.
oh ok thanks...and as for the hazlet, middletown, matawan area...is it a deadly quiet area in the off summer months? Like I live in a beach area currently (Rockaway Beach) and while it does get very quiet from Sept-May, it does have bars, some restaurants etc. I would like a house within a decent distance to a movie theatre, shopping mall, etc. As for Airport Plaza does it have a website or does anyone know how much it cost? Thanks.
kort what about hazlet?middletown?matawan?aberdeen?
Do these areas have "bad sections" thanks
