You're the one who brought up China . . . and still, your comparison of Chinese workers to slaves is disingenuous. If China were a pseudo slave-state they wouldn't have the economy that they do. If their entire economy depended solely on cash from exports it would've crumbled two years ago. Fact is, and you can pick this up in any economic rag from the left or right, that the Chinese middle-class is about the size of the entire US population.

You hate communism, me too, but it doesn't help your cause to make stuff up. China is best described as a mixed economy with aspects of socialism and capitalism. Their politics, on the other hand, are still very authoritarian. It would appear though, at least at the national level, that there are some movements to liberalize politics - with the strongest resistance to democracy coming at the regional and local levels.

I'm a small business owner, sort of. I recently had to liquidate and put my money somewhere "safe" until the economy turns around. An economy brought to its knees every 20-30 years by capitalists. I'm a proponent of the free market. Capitalism contradicts the free market at every turn.

what compassion for chinese workers? i couldnt care less about them. im just saying that el dakar is touting the greatness of a country that couldnt care less about its workers and yet el dakar also complains that america doesnt do enough for its workers. its a contradiction in his ideals that he doesnt care about because he would sell his mother for the ideal of communism.

Maybe it was in a different thread but I didn't see anything in his posts here to equate China with "greatness".

I have a few dirt-bag neighbors. Being a better parent than they are doesn't make me the best parent I can be. It doesn't even necessarily make me a good one. Being better than the worst doesn't make you great.

you really arent offering much to respond to here. ok, i must have misread comparison for compassion, oopsie.

dakar is telling us to look at china as an example of success and something we should look to mimic. there is nothing there for us to mimic.

thanks for that meaningless analogy. im just pointing out the inconsistency in dakar's logic. dakar has mentioned raising the minimum wage and he is using china as an example for us to look at to improve our economy. whats china's minimum wage? 1 grain of rice per hour? how do you suggest raising the minimum wage and then suggest we follow china's lead?

I don't need to get info about the Cuban healthcare system from movies. I lived in Cuba for several years. Todo lo que hablo de cuba, vi con mis propios ojos.
Anyway, it is a fact that Cuba has a lower infant mortality rate than the USA.

Why did you leave? It seems as though you believe Cuba is a superior nation in many aspects.

Kindly show me where I claimed that Cuba was superior to the US besides in healthcare? One aspect does not equal "many" aspects.

Well, I have to correct myself: it is superior in another aspect besides healthcare. I found my "pareja" in Cuba and she has been with me ever since:
