Can anyone tell me where in NJ I might find a 3 bdrm 2 bthrm townhome within 1 hr of ny for under $200,000? Does such a thing exist?

Definitely not. Something like you are describing would more than likely sell for the low to mid 300,000's.

Depends. What's important to you, schools, etc? When you say 1 hour, do you mean 1 hr on the train, bus or car?

The only place I can think of might be the Hamilton/Robbinsville area, but I don't really know if that's only an hour, it depends. Here's a sample, this one is in Robbinsville which is a very nice town, but these are small units, about 1000 sf or so.

17 Tynemouth Ct, Robbinsville, NJ, 08691 - MLS ID#5549332 - Condo/Townhome/Row Home/Co-Op real estate - REALTOR.com® (http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/17-Tynemouth-Ct_Robbinsville_NJ_08691_1110362786 - broken link)

The townhome posted above by luckyshoes is in Foxmoor, which is where I live. Foxmoor is a very large townhome/condo development in Robbinsville. Robbinsville is a great town, but not an hour commute to NYC. The express train from Hamilton gets to NY in just about an hour, but factor in a 15 minute drive & parking to Hamilton, plus the usual NJ Transit delays, and you're realistically looking at 90 minutes from your home into Penn Station.

As for the unit itself, that actually looks pretty decent for the money. It's one of the older townhomes so it will be beat up a bit and won't probably won't be anything you'd get too excited about. But from the pictures it looks decent. Of course, pictures can be very deceiving and I suspect based on the price that this place may be a bit of a dump.

Yeah, that's what I thought, more like 90 minutes. It's a nice town though.

I don't think the price is that low though, I actually thought it was kind of at the high end for those units. As far as getting excited about it, they are a little old, but they can still be very cute. At least they have a little yard

Best thing I can think of is Twin Rivers in East Windsor NJ. Not the most wonderful area in the world, but it's also not Newark at night.

Twin Rivers prop:

FYI, Twin Rivers is relatively closer to NYC, as it's right near exit 8 of the turnpike.
