One of my friend won 125k in one night playing blackjack. He was extremely lucky that night. He would double down on 13 while betting 5k and still would win. He was driving the pit boss crazy. When he got home, he bought a Corvette and a very nice home theater system. Within a month, he lost it all back and some more.
The most I've won in one night is about 20k but overall, I'm down like 150k. That's why I quit gambling. You never win. It's just like smoking. It's just better not to start at all.
I knew a guy whose hobby was gambling. He was good enough to only lose ~$500 on average for 4 FULL days of gambling.
I still remember his advice
"Kid, only gamble in Vegas casinos. You never know which NA casino is on the up and up and Atlantic City was created for a single purpose; To **** New Yorkers out of their money"
Anyone who tell you that they won in AC, congratulate them and politely ask how much they lost in their lifetime. If you gamble enough, you will lose, that's is just the way it work. If you are on a winning streak, they slow down the game.
As for Casino in AC.. I prefer Harrahs. Their comps are pretty good as long as you don't go down too often.
i know someone who lost his total life savings to atlantic city. Gambling is for losers who are greedy. He is now living in a homeless shelter. Don't gamble

Actually gambling is fun. And if done responsibly with completely disposable income, nobody is going to lose their life's fortune. However, everybody loses something if they play long enough, that is true. The losses are the cost of the entertainment. I have no problem making some contributions from time to time. And sometimes you get a charge - you go home a winner. Most times, no, but sometimes yes.
And until you've played no-limit hold'em competently and competitively, you will never know how much fun gambling can be!

that someone is a moron. NEVER gamble with money from savings. Always gamble with money that has been put away for just that and nothing else.
I very rarely gamble and the only time I really "won" wasn't really winning. I was at Showboat around 2am on a Tuesday with some friends who were 21-23. I was only 19, but looked older. Hit up roulette and was playing conservative only betting $5 or so. Not wanting to draw attention I walked away up around $300 after hitting my number a couple times.
I headed over the Caribbean stud table and started playing. I didn't pony up the $1 a hand for the jackpot as I knew that if I hit anything I was SOL. Played with the minimum bet and was doing OK with the dealer occasionally trying to encourage me to put the $1 in. Wouldn't you know it, I get dealt a friggin royal flush. Would have been worth a few hundred thousand in the jackpot. Everyone at the table was dumbfounded and couldn't believe I wasn't playing the jackpot pool. I calmly got up, cashed out and left.
Since that day casino karma has been a total b$tch to me.
