Hello,

I have two children, one will be entering 1st grade and one will be entering 6th grade in September.

My husband got a new job and we are relocating to Northern NJ. I am about to sign a lease for a condo rental in Wood-Ridge NJ. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the schools there.

My 1st grader would be in Catherine Doyle and my 6th grader in Greta Ostrovsky. I'm also interesed in the HS as well because we will be here for a long time if not permanently.

I don't see anything on previous posts - any help is appreciated.

Kathleen

woodridge district does not have lots of kids, so they will probably get lots of one on one attention

Default Olympic Karate School Rutherford NJ

Does anyone have any experience w/ this school in Rutherford NJ? I've heard it is the best of the local schools and I want to enroll my kids in September.

If you can recommend any schools in the Wood-Ridge/Rutherford area... we're brand new and any experience is appreciated!

I am familiar w/ the school system. I would say that they are not the best. They are not dreadful, but not the best.

Doyle is the best of the bunch, both in terms of facility and test scores, but that's not even stellar. Although the demographic has changed during the recent housing boom, it's still a "blue collar" town historically. Emphasis is not really put on education by the parents or school board. Take a look at Greatschools.net to get a feel for this.

They share their HS w/ Moonachie and the emphasis is totally on sports there.

DM me if you have any other questions, I'd be happy to help you.

I just thought I would report back. One month into the year I am pretty happy. I know it's not a lot of time but so far so good.
I love Doyle. I really wish it was a K-8. Ostrovsky is not bad at all. But I do like Doyle better. My 6th grader is eyeing some of the local Catholic High Schools, so we are now thinking about maybe going with one of the local Catholic Elementary Schools to get him in the "groove" so to speak. Anyone have any feedback on them. There is Assumption in Wood Ridge, Corpus Christi in Hasbrouck Heights, St. Joseph's in E. Rutherford, St. Mary's in Rutherford, and Sacred Heart in Lyndhurst. At least these are the ones I have checked as of now. I have my opinions, but I want to see what others may have to say before giving my opinions on them. Any advice you can offer? Thank you.
