Is anyone familiar with the North Hudson Park surroundings? Is it a relatively safe neighborhood? What is the commute like to NYC (what is available, etc)?

Do you mean the park around 80th street? It's definitely one of the nicer areas in Hudson County (there's a bit of grass, trees, and wildlife around there!) The park is great - kept clean, safe to my knowledge, etc. I'm not sure about the crime statistics, but, I FEEL safe in that area (though, I live in Union City, so I'd probably feel safe anywhere... Sad) I do remember a couple months back my in-law's cleaning lady had her purse stolen out of her car, and apparently this was going on a lot in that area for a while...but, then again, I wouldn't ever leave my purse in the car, anyway!
The commute to NYC is definitely easy. You have buses, along with the lightrail close by (there's park & ride nearby...on Tonnelle ave).
