Hi. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on safety at Dunellen train station at around 9:30-10pm during the business week (M-F)?

A cousin of mine is considering using the station, she is a 20-something female, I don't whether it's advisable or not. I've been to the station a lot on weekend mornings and see a lot of litter (beer bottles, chicken bones) lying around so I don't quite know what goes on there over night.

Oh, and she will be arriving from Newark.

Opinions welcome.

One of my coworkers (formerly of Westfield, she now lives in Piscataway) takes the raritan valley by way of Dunellen.

The station is safe.

My experience with the train station, is that the station itself is safe enough.

However, be aware and use caution about leaving items inside of her vehicle that would attract thieves and such.

I have seen a number of window broken on cars over the years, but it seem to come in waves and then move on. The station will than have no incidents for months after.
