Hi Guys
Need ur input on this prob. I am going to move to NYC 'cos my family and friends are there but my job is in NJ, Denville to be precise. A lot of people scared me about the commute getting into and out of the island and someone suggested this.

Live in NYC and travel to a NJ transit station. Park a car there in one of the long term garages and drive from there to the rest of the way. There are a couple of advantages this way.
1) I escape the congestion in the tunnels and the bridge esp in the evening and my total commute shld be better (even if u add the subway+nj transit time)
2) Parking and car insurance shld be cheaper.

I was looking at say Newark Penn station. Does anyone know if this is a safe place to park? Or if anyone else is doing a similar complicated commute I would appreciate ur input
Thanks in advance!

Where in NYC are you commuting from? You mentioned "the island", but is that Staten Island or Long Island, and where on "the island" are we talking about?

Why not live on the NJ side, close to NYC? Surely its cheaper, not to mention you could choose a location thats a quick ride into the city.
