I'm sure this qn has been asked before, but I'd like to know again
We're planning a trip from Newark to Orlando,Florida and I was wondering how safe the airport is , especially in the evenings , since I was looking at some evening flights.

Uh, it's an airport. It's as safe as any other major airport. Is it supposed to be more dangerous or something because it's in Newark?

You really don't have anything to worry about in the terminals. You should of course keep your wits about you if you're walking alone in an airport parking lot at night, but that could be said of just about any airport.

I actually don't know of anyone who has gone there and returned alive. The Crips and Bloods operate the baggage handling and typically shoot travelers as soon as they exit their cars. The cars are then loaded onto containers at nearby Port Newark where they are shipped to third world countries. The bodies are dumped in the meadowlands.

In all seriousness, its about as dangerous as a walk down Sesame Street. Newark airport is located in the middle of a swamp about 10 miles south of the city proper and seperated by about 12 lanes of NJ Turnpike traffic whizzing by at 80 mph. The Port Authority Police patrol the airport, not to mention all the TSA folks inside. I don't know if you've flown since 9/11 but airports aren't exactly low security anymore. However, if the word "Newark" bothers you that much perhaps you should try Philadelphia. I recently flew out of there on Southwest and managed to make it out alive despite the fact that the city has had 400+ murders this year In any case I'd advise using common sense and not falling off the escalator, walking around on the tarmac, riding the baggage carousel, or yelling BOMB! really loudly. Stick to those rules and I think you'll be fine.

actually that's not too far from the truth, the cleaners are not the most wholesome bunch of people you've ever met, one day a scandal will break about how security was broken by some of those people.
Other than your bad geography you're right there is no problem using the airport, the biggest danger is the bad drivers getting out of the place

Newark Airport is probably the safest place in that city.

But it isnt the nicest looking or cleanest.

Wait until you see the difference between Newark AP and the Orlando AP.

Its like Night and Day.

I would be more concerned with the "EXTREMELY" large amount of Muslim cab drivers at the airport than the cleaners!
