Am looking at an rental on Ogden near Franklin. The apartment includes a dedicated off-street spot. Obviously the price is somewhat higher because of the spot. Would rather find a a less expensive apartment without the spot and just park on the street. So how accessible is street parking on Ogden and the surrounding streets? I generally get home from work around 8 or 9pm, and don't want to spend an hour riding around looking for a spot.
Also wanted to know if this area is generally safe. It's not super close to the Congress lightrail station, so I don't think it's prime Ogden.
Not sure about Ogden specifically, but in the Heights generally, finding parking is a pain!!! If I owned a car and were moving to the Heights I wouldn't even consider an apartment without dedicated parking.
My fiance and I, as well as a friend of ours, are moving into a two bedroom that is a house away from the corner of Franklin and Ogden (on Ogden)...which side of the street was the apartment you are looking at?
It's not close to Congress, but really close to 2nd Street HLBR. You just walk down mountain ave, and by september there will actually be steps there to walk down (no more windy street). The 2nd St. HLBR is actually closer to Hoboken/Newport too.
I felt it was really safe (hence the move-in) but my GF took some convincing because Palisade is so ugly. It looks like Gentrification started here, but hasn't ended...is just "on hold", if you will, while the economy recovers. Street has a great neighborhood association and there are plenty of young families. I was suprised at how White the street was, actually. Reat of the area is mostly hispanic.
