Hi,

I'm trying to choose between Englewood, Hackensack, Overlook and Morristown hospitals for my delivery and would appreciate any help on experiences/suggestions. If you have had a great experience at anyone of these, plse suggest an OB/Gyn affiliated with the specific hospital too.

You do realize that geographically these hospitals are miles apart.

Morristown...Craig Bissinger....

Morristown has been ranked the top hospital in the state for a few years. I've delivered two babies with Bissinger in the past two and a half years,

Thanks. I heard even Hackensack is pretty good. Any reason you
chose Morristown over Hackensack?

Keep in mind that doctors are usually based in a local area close to the hospitals they have admitting privileges to and that in the first trimester, you have monthly visits, second trimester biweekly, and last trimester weekly visits to the doctor's office. It is going to be quite challenging for you to travel 20-30 miles out of the way for all these visits, ultrasound appointments, etc., not to mention how to schedule all the visits around work with the extra round trip time.

Please take that into consideration when choosing your doctor/hospital.

Because I live in Florham Park and my OB is in Parsippany...you really need to live close to your OB and hospital. Why would I go to Hackensack? If I lived over there, then sure. Where do you live?

How about St Barnabus in West Orange? Flagship of the largest hospital system in the state, and in a relatively affluent area.

The main hospital is in Livingston. Wouldn't want anyone to think W.O. had anything going for it :-).

(it's literally on the border, which is Old Short Hills Road at that point).

@ Mrspigglewiggle & @ Magic78
Hackensack is about 12 miles from where I live and Englewood 14 miles. Yes, Morristown is way more but it's purely in my consideration coz its one of the top hospitals. I don't think 12-15 miles is that much given the reputation of the hospitals particularly for Family Birth. Is it? Also, I'm not working currently so don't have to work around that schedule.

@mrjohnyt: Thanks. Wll check that out too but till now I've got most votes for these 4.
