I'l be looking at houses in Montclair, NJ with my realtor this upcoming week. I plan on sending my children to Catholic school, so the public schools in Montclair are irrelevant for me. I just want to settle in a safe area, so can anyone advise me on which areas of Montclair are considered dangerous or unsafe?

Thank you in advance.

Avoid anyplace near the Pathmark: Pine, Grant, Bay, etc. Also on the other side of Bloomfield Ave. avoid New Street, Mission, Elm, Elmwood, etc. Many of these streets and the surrounding ones are notorious for drug activity.

That pretty much sums it up. Mission St. is a known drug area and someone was shot there late last year. Also my neighbor has had his car broken into twice while parked at the Bay St. train station.
