4 bed home, reasonable kitchen (I love to cook.)
Do you need/want good public schools ? We have children 13, 13 and 10. One twin is in advanced placement classes, the other has a learning disablity and is in resource classes. Good public schools is VERY important.
Briefly describe the kind of neighborhood ? family neighborhood, lots going on - active community. Walkable
List three things that are important to you in order of importance .Schools, walkable downtown, short commute. (Isn't this the scared trinity of NJ families?)

For starters, no matter where you go it will take at least an hour each way, maybe 45 minutes but more like 75 to 90 minutes to get in and out of NYC from any decent area. I can PM you later with suggestions, I've lived in both states, out to lunch now.
