Hello we are young couple moving to New Jersey (she is 20 and I'm 25 years old). Caucasian.

We are looking for nice town (and apartment block, 1 BEDROOM).

What is important is for us:

!!!Safety!!! - very safe place or gated community will be better.

Quite Area - we don't need lot of dining or clubbing (as far as possible from city life and rush) Just nice quite life.

Friendly Town - nice atmosphere.

We can afford around $900-$1100 per month for 1 Bedroom.

I'll be working in New Ark area (customs) so I'm OK to commute 40-50 minutes if needed. We were looking in to New Brunswick. How is it?

If you have better suggestions for us please don't be shy, educate us.

We'll gladly appreciate your answers,

Ilya and Olivia

$900-1,100 is very doable for a 1 bed. With that said, the commute from NB to Newark isn't all that ideal. New Brunswick can be pretty shabby, though a decent city overall, but judging by the way you put emphasis on !!!Safety!!!, I'd suggest you cross NB off your list.

Edison is a lot safer/nicer than NB, but you still have a lot of CLOSER options.

Look into Nutley, Lyndhurst, and Rutherford. Very safe, cultured, and friendly communities- The commute to/from Newark from these towns can range from 15-30 minutes depending on traffic.

Good luck.

Do an online search for rentals in the community you are interested in. You can start off at various websites such as NJ.com or even check craigslist.com, just the usual cautions about not sending anyone from craigslist any money apply.
