I saw an ad for the Market Street Apartments and was wondering if it's a safe area. I am looking to move from a sketchy area in the Bronx (Fordham) and would rather move to a decent area rather than make a "lateral" move to another sketchy area.

Thanks.

I beleave thats one of the better areas of Perth Amboy ,& I would expect it to get more Gentrified due to the proximity to the waterfront....

From what I've seen by driving through, Perth Amboy is kinda sketchy, so I'm not sure it would be the best place for you.

I have been to the area a few times and I feel it looks run down.

Perth Amboy's train station is a mess. You can't even sit down to wait for the next train. From what I keep hearing, a good number of residents can't speak English, the school system's horrible, and it really needs some redevelopment. I think you drive anyway, but I'd recommend moving near the waterfront because otherwise most of Perth Amboy needs major improvement.

Perth Amboy has a healthy population growth like Ironbound and more affordable. I think the only thing keeping it from moving forward is the economy. But crime-wise its a safe city relative to many towns like even Carteret, maybe because its mostly recent hispanics. The industrial side keeps parts of it looking ugly, and the riverfront is ugly in my opinion, maybe because it faces staten island and lots of mud, but that can be easily fixed.

Can anyone suggest any other towns by the train to get to NYC that might be better?

Thanks in advance,

Mike
