Thinking of putting an alarm system in my home and was wondering if anyone can give me advice on what companies you are using, and also let me know how you like their service as well as their monthly pricing. I appreciate any comments you may have.
Thanks,
Mike.

I am with Lifeshield. It's an alternative do it yourself system that integrates into your broadband and (optional) phone line for monitoring by Guardian (one of the top companies in the US). Equipment investmensts are about 1/3 what you would normally pay. There is no annual contract. You can monitor the home sensor status and setup notifications on just about anything related to the system.

Been using it now for about a year with no issues and troubles.

I just couldn't stomach spending $2,500 on traditional equipment and paying for professional installation (do it yourself on these traditional units is a nightmare from what I read), nor could I stomach signing a 1 or 2 year agreement with ADT or similar and pay them $40 or something a month for equipment that has very low flexibility in terms of expansion and remote management.

Good luck

I use ADT. No problems with service and easy to use. To get more information on ADT and the difference between buying directly from the company as opposed to a dealer, check out this thread.

A few years ago, my husband and I came back from our vacation to a NIGHTMARE. Everything was either stolen or pretty much broken. Now I can sleep easy knowing my family and I are safe I can NOT live without Home Security Systems

My $65 motion sensor camera works just fine. Sends me emails with photos when any motion is detected. Also can view my house from my cell phone or any internet connection.
