I live in an apartment right now in Clementon, nj and I've been looking to buy a condo. I found one I really like in Mantua, NJ but I can't find much information on that area. Any thoughts on likes or dislikes about that area? I'm 26 years old and have no children. I'm not looking for bars and clubs..I'm pretty sure I didn't see any there anyway. I just need a nice place to live. I work in Washington Township, and the commute doesn't seem to be too bad.
Also, is there any access for trains near Mantua to get to Philadelphia?
Thank yoU!!
I have friends and coworkers who live in Mantua and they all like it. It is pretty much a family bedroom community. The school district is good and is part of the Clearview Regional system, I know that doesn't matter for you right now, but that makes the area desirable for people. There isn't much at all in the way of nightlife and shopping, all of that pretty much requires a drive to Deptford or Washington Twp.
As far as trains go, there are none currently. PATCO/DRPA/NJ Transit is currently working on plans for building an extension that will run through Gloucester County and connect with PATCO and the RiverLine in Camden. The proposed line would serve the Mantua area with a local stop. Of course, that is still many years away from becoming a reality. When it does though, I think it will make that entire area more desirable.
So basically, it is a family oriented bedroom community that requires a car to go pretty much anywhere. If you are looking for a decent and quiet place to live with an easy commute to Washington Twp., you would have found a good a match.
Thank you so much for your reply. It was very helpful. Do you know what the closest train station to mantua would be?
There really aren't any that are close. The quickest one to get to by car is probably Woodcrest Station in Cherry Hill as it is right off of 295. Outside of that the next closest would be Collingswood or Ferry Ave. in Camden.
