Just stay close to where you've mentioned in your posts-I didn't see anyone mentioning that NJ's property taxes are some of the highest in the nation (also depending on where). So that might affect your decision to rent/purchase a place. I live in Southern NJ-and being older and on a fixed income is a bear here. I hope that you find what you're looking for.

Here we go again with the highest taxes in the world crap. It just is not true.. North Jersey yes, South Jersey is just like anywhere else in pa and other local areas for the same homes.

As compared to what we pay in property taxes in Alabama, yes, it's expensive. We pay some of the lowest property taxes in the country, and the schools can prove it! On the flip side, our insurance on the gulf coast is sky high, and our sales tax is 9.5%! Considering you have good public schools, in our opinion, it's sort of a wash...we pay cheap taxes in AL, but would likely seriously consider private schooling for our kindergartener if we were to stay here. At least in NJ, while taxes are higher, the public schools rate very good, so we save on not having to pay tuition.
Our potential move seems to be in limbo...contingent on an potential acquisition by my husband's company (with the acquisition, there isn't a specific role for him to fill). Hopefully we'll know something with 30 days. Thanks again for all of your input!

Exactly.. Ya get what you pay for.. I was pointing out the fact that up here the taxes are about the same in all the Philly burbs for the *good areas.. *(GOOD SCHOOLS, NICE HOMES, SAFE, CLEAN STREETS)

Thanks frankgn87...I hadn't researched other areas around Philly, but I really do appreciate your comment and glad to know the taxes are in line with others.
