Hi all,
We are still in the process of deciding where to live in NH. We thought we had decided on Bedford, but haven't been able to find, "the perfect home" yet.

We have recently added Windham to our search, particularly northern Windham, as my husband works in Londonderry and the commute would be quite easy. Would love to hear your comments on the area just over the boarder from South Londonderry. We've seen a couple of homes in that area, but aren't sure about the pros and cons of bordering South Londonderry.

We have young kids so schools are important and Safety-- including environmental as well as crime-- is also very important.

Any thoughts you have would be greatly appreciated.

buck naked,
Thanks for your response. I've seen some of your other posts where you've referenced some super fund sites (i.e. in and around Londonderry). Are you aware of any EPA issues in the Windham, or Windham/Londonderry border area? Before we buy anything, we'll ask for an EPA report, but just wondering if you are aware of anything off the top of your head...

Thanks!

none that I know of... the Londonderry problems are on the Auburn side. (east and north)

Windham is south of Londonderry and used to be all farm country. Now it's estates.

Please do your research carefully, and do full testing on your water (incl. radon & arsenic). This is very important in both towns. I've had more than one sale fall through because of unacceptable test results. Your agent should encourage this as well. Remember that not all contaminated areas are superfund sites. In addition to the Auburn Road (former landfill/superfund site) there is the Tinkham Garage & the Holton Road in Londonderry.
