Ely Hotels/Casinos Recommendations (Las Vegas: house, live, price)

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a hotel in Ely? I've heard of Hotel Nevada and the Jailhouse Hotel. Are they any good? Better to just stay in the Best Western? I am heading up there on Friday without a reservation and going to see if I get lucky with a place. I am sure there won't be many rooms left since it is Memorial Day weekend, but we'll see what I can find.

Also, how is the Border Inn in Baker?

Baker is a hidden treasure, and the Border Inn is a clean, comfortable and well-outfitted motel/cafe on the Nevada Utah line. You sleep in Utah and dine in Nevada, a highly satisfying arrangement.

If you don't stay at the Jail House at least try their steak house. I've found it to be up there with expensive steak joints in Las Vegas but not as pricey.

We eat at the Jail House every time we go to visit. Very satisfied. This is coming from a cajun girl who has very high expectations on food. LOL
We've always stayed at the Best Western(I think that's the one) because it is right by our families house. Nothing fancy but it's clean and comfortable.

The rooms at the Hotel Nevada can be hit or miss. MOst of them are not all that big. Its a older hotel, so occasionally, your hot water may go cold if someone flushes a toilet somewhere. But the theme rooms are kinda cool. I dont know all of them, but my parents stayed in the room of some 70's singer. And with the exception of big weekends, you can usually get a room for $30-50. The Four 7's behind jailhouse is small, but the rooms are excellent from what I hear and it's only $25/night. Its ran by the Hotel Nevada.

As for the Jailhouse Steakhouse, Ive lived here 2 years now and have only eaten there once. I wasnt all that impressed myself.
