Hi,
I've been wondering if how did Nevada get its name and what does it mean? I am a person who wants to learn more about the history of each city.

Nevada is a state, not a city,
but the name comes from the Spanish for snow-covered, a reference to the Sierra Nevada mountains.

Sierra is Spanish for sawtooth, or mountain. Like your serrated knife blades. It is redundant to say Sierra mountains.
Nevada in Spanish means "snow covered". Although only a very small part of the Sierra Nevada actually crosses the State of Nevada border, our state is named for those mostly California mountains.
You might be interested to know that Las Vegas is Spanish for "The Meadows".
Reno got it's name from a fallen Union General from the Civil War with that last name.
