We're heading down to Nashville (from Illinois) on Thursday to see the Titans/Packers game. We'll be getting into town around 3 pm...and the game is at 7 pm....is there any place we can go for some sort of "tailgating"? And by tailgating...I mean boozing. Or should we just find a bar somewhere near the stadium? Any help is greatly appreaciated!

You can tailgate (and party) in the stadium parking lot. The stadium is right across the river from the downtown area (there's a pedestrian bridge, plus a couple of other bridges). You could probably find what you're looking for along 2nd Avenue and the lower Broadway area if you decide to just look for a bar. There are some other places on the stadium side, but I'm not familiar enough with them to give you any recommendations.

We're a pretty welcoming bunch (even for fans of the opposing team). Just ask anyone who looks like a local when you get here and they'll help you out.

Plenty of options on Broadway and 2nd Ave as Alleycat mentioned. It will probably be somewhat crowded, so allow yourself some extra time. There's also the Gerst Haus Gerst Haus - Front Page that is right next to the stadium and the Interstate. But it's usually a zoo before the games.

Don brings up another point. Be sure to get to the stadium early if you're going to do a little partying beforehand. When they have one of these during-the-workweek games, the Metro police start blocking off streets (too early to my way of thinking) to accomodate the crowd going to the game . . . which in turns cause problems for those trying to get out of downtown at 5:00 and those commuting on the interloop. It probably won't be too bad, but you can expect to hit a little slow traffic here and there from about 4:00 on.

Yep, usually quite a bunch. Some of them get pretty fancy about the whole thing.

How big is the RV?

LP Field only allows tailgating immediately behind your vehicle, and parking is by permit and VERY limited.

Tennessee Titans | Stadium Policies

You would need to find a lot that will allow you to park an RV in the first place, but that depends on how big it is. There aren't any big-box stores near the stadium, like Wal-Mart, that allow RVs to just squat for a while.

It might be a hit-or-miss proposition.

And parking an RV around the neighborhood surrounding the stadium on the east side isn't adviseable. There's just not a lot of space around there. However, you might be able to find a surface lot either downtown or somewhere on the east side if you got there VERY early and ponied up the money to park in multiple spaces (usually $20 per space).
