hi,
i think a move to hendersonville would be smart, there are no few tornadoes there and its a nice place. i live in cleveland, tn, a suburb of chattanooga.
in east tennesse there are practically no tornadoes. in tennessee, gas is less expensive.

Hendersonville is very nice. I have lived there and enjoyed it. Good schools. Tough commute if you work in Nashville though.

I have lived in Middle TN my entire life and I have NEVER been in a Torando. Yes, we have Torandos that touch down, and yes there will be Tornado watches and warnings. However, the odds of you living through a tornado or losing your home in a Tornado are pretty slim. Kind of like being bit by a shark if you live in FL. It could happen, but probably won't.

I just saw your posting. What is the cost of typical home owners insurance on a $175,000 home in Cleveland Tennessee? How about taxes?

Thanks

You can find the property tax rate for any town or county in Tennessee here: http://www.comptroller1.state.tn.us/PAnew/LR.asp?W=06 (broken link)

Tax on a $175K house in Cleveland would be about $1600. Less in the county.

I'm not sure about insurance; I would guess $600 to $800.
