Someone suggested Fairview to me some time ago. Can anyone give me more info on this area? I have a 14 year old son entering 9th grade in the Fall. What does Fairview have to offer a child of this age?

What about the job market in/around Fairview? I need a job and a nice place to live that I can afford. Would I have to commute to Nashville for the better jobs? If so, how bad is the commute?

Honestly, I can live anywhere and be happy, but to move a 14 year old from a big city to a small town can be shocking unless there are things to keep him entertained.

I really like Murfreesboro, but concerned with the rapid growth rate they seem to be experiencing. Although, from an economic standpoint, this is a good thing, rapid growth presents problems as well.

HELP! I need to find a good place for my son to go to school and somewhere where he will have fun things to do and keep him busy.

Additionally, what about the weather in this part of TN? You know I'm talkin' 'bout dangerous storms! However, anything you can offer is helpful.

Fairview is a super small town with a population of 5800 (2000 census). I don't know much about the area really. I don't think there are many entertainment opportunities IN the city that your son would enjoy..so you might have to drive out of the city quite often. Murfreesboro would be good for someone his age, good schools there, mall and more places to go and shop. Commute to Nashville would be around 30-40 minutes and when there's traffic or rain it takes 45+ minutes. Blackman High School is a really nice new high school in the area and I'm sure there are plenty of nice subdivisons for you to find a home. And if you don't find a job in Murfreesboro try looking for a job in Antioch, which is much closer to Murfreesboro than Nashville. The weather here is not really a problem. We don't have hurricanes and occasionally we have tornadoes. Winter is chilly to cool temps, Spring and Fall are the best temp months and Summer is hot and humid but not always.

GOOD LUCK!

Agree with last poster. The drive is fun. I live in Lyles, Tennessee - which is about 30 miles beyond Fairview. Fairview does have a nice community center and good schools though. However, it is in Williamson county and you would be paying to live there. I have a friend who owns the local Cee Bee (H.G. Hills now). It is a quiet area and the people seem really friendly. Wishing you the best.

Thank you both very much for replying. I took a ride over to Fairview today and afraid I have to rule it out. Too small! I've visited a couple of smaller areas and I think M'boro is a best fit for us, so I'm going to focus my efforts here. Thanks tn06 for the tip about work in Antioch. It would save on commute time. I'm going to try for work in M'boro first, but if nothing materializes, I'll begin going outward.
