Right now I am in Cleveland, but we are considering a move to Nashville. I have a coulple of questions.

My son suffers from eczema that is triggered by humidity and outdoor allergens. We have it somewhat under control, but I keep reading how bad Nashville is for this. What I am not sure of is if Nashville is any worse than Cleveland?

Second, I know the economy is down all over. But in Cleveland we have big companies moving out and shutting down right and left. What is the overall economy like in Nashville right now?

Thanks for any help.....

The economy is not too bad here, compared to many other areas. Yes, real estate is down and there are plenty of houses that haven't sold but, overall, it's still pretty good.
I get some allergies but nothing too bad. I moved here from Alabama about 10 years ago and never recall having alleries before. I hear from others that Nashville is pretty bad for allergies. How it compares to Cleveland, I don't know

Top 50 Allergy Capitals

Nashville appears to be significantly worse than Cleveland for allergies. (There are dozens of different websites purporting to measure this sort of thing; I've posted only one but their results seem to be broadly similar.)

I suffer from Eczema as well and while it is possible to keep it under control here, it is quit difficult. I've been trying hydro theropy lately (cycles of really hot and cold water) followed by hydrocortizone (sp?) cream and it seems to be working... slowly. I sympathize with your son.

The economy is fine here for the private sector. If you're hoping to get a government job though, then you might have a hard time as Tennessee is experiencing a pretty big budget shortfall. We're faring better than a lot of states but cuts & hiring freezes are still being made. Nonetheless, we don't have any big corporations leaving. Clarksville even just landed a new company that is going to bring 900 new jobs and over a billion dollar investment -the largest in the history of Tennessee.
