We're coming to town the weekend of June 20th. Anyone have any recommendations for a casual place to eat in Murfreesboro. We'll be driving around checking out the area and meeting my sister who's driving up from Georgia. So someplace good, but casual would be great!

Also my son has a baseball tournament at Vanderbilt, so any good places to eat around there?

Thanks!

My husband and I just returned today from Murfreesboro. We ate at Toots, (tell them you have never eaten their fried pickles and you get a free order!) Demos-spagetti served as a side with steak-different but delicious, and Puleo's. Have fun!

A couple of places near Vanderbilt:

Blackstone's on West End between 19th and 20th Avenues.

Rotier's on Elliston Place (park at Centennial Park and walk to the restaurant). Rotier's is an old-fashioned place and an old Nashville tradition. Try the cheeseburgers and maybe a shake.

There are several other good restaurants around the Vandy area, as well as the usual assortments of fast-food places, so you should be able to find some place you'd like.

Default definitely Demos.

My recommendation is definitely Demos Steak and Spaghetti house. It is by far the best casual restaurant I have been to since I moved here 8 months ago.

Voted “Favorite Restaurant” 13 years in a row!, “Best Deal for your Money” and “Best Place to Eat Steak”

In Murfreesboro, I'd eat at Macaroni Grill (at The Avenue), Olive Garden (brand new at Stones River Mall), Puelo's Grill (on N.W. Broad) and Jason's Deli (on Thompson Lane).

I have eaten at all those places except Macaroni Grill and they are all very good...

When you do come down here you will have LOTS of different restaurants to choose from. I have never been to a place that had so many restaurants in 1 area.

I've heard a number of times that M'boro has more restaurants per capita than anywhere else in the country.

I'd suggest NOT going to a national chain like Olive Garden or Macaroni grill. You can get that anywhere. I will never understand why people want to go to a place like that when they travel. TRY SOMETHING NEW, PEOPLE!

Toot's and Demos' are good. I'd recommend Marina's though, on the square in M'boro. Locally owned and GREAT italian food. I've never had a bad meal there. Try the pizza or Cajun Ckn Pasta.

As for the Vandy area, South Street is pretty good. Be sure to get the Flaming Thighs for an appetizer...good stuff.

Thank you! Keep them coming!

We are definitely looking to try someplace that is not what we have here!! lol

Demo's sounds great and if there is as much to choose from as you guys say, I'm sure we'll have no problem finding a place to eat! lol

Thanks!

If I am in an unfamiliar place, I'd rather go to a chain restaurant because I can't afford to waste money on a lousy meal. Personally, I don't really like Demos. It's not horrible, but not spectacular in my opinion.

I forgot about Carrabas over off Thompson Lane in Murfreesboro. Delicious!!!!!
