What is every one's favorite must do every summer in and around Nashville? Is there a beach or fair that you can't let summer go by with out going to it? I am wanting to do alot this summer since we are new here and wanted new adventures. Kid friendly places a must Thanks to anyone who can share their favorite summer time outings!

The Adventure Science Center, any of the lakes or state parks, the "kid's art place" in the Frist, a romp around Centennial Park, play in the fountains at Bicentennial Mall, the summer "exhibit" at Cheekwood (this year the theme is Happily Ever After based on fairy tales; I haven't been but it doesn't look quite as interesting as the exhibits in past years, but maybe), bank fishing at one of the small lakes, a trip to the Opryland Hotel, ride the Tennessee Central Railroad Museum train, the Nashville Zoo, Wave Country . . .

Default First off, WELCOME BACK ALLEYCAT!!

I could cry. I was nearly done typing a detailed post about festivals with dates, locations and descriptions when I crashed and lost it all.

Here are the festivals. Google them for all the info I just watched evaporate

Nashville Int'l Puppet Festival
Greek Festival
Shakespeare Festival
CMA Music Festival (Fan Fair)

Have fun!

Priest is a little nicer for swimming in my opinion. There is a section of sandy beach, but it might not be open to day visitors (I'm not sure). There are designated areas for swimming where boats are not allowed within a certain zone.

Oh, I forgot, a drive down the Natchez Trace Parkway is nice, although I like it better in either the spring or fall. It's run by the National Park Service so it's not just a highway. There are places to stop along the way. If you start out early enough you can have breakfast at the Loveless Cafe on Highway 100 (you'd be surprised at the people who have eaten at the place just looking at it from the outside).

Well, I don't know that I'd say "cool stuff". More like pretty scenery with some history thrown in.

Here's a link: Natchez Trace Parkway (U.S. National Park Service)
