I avoid doing so if I can. But I also work downtown so I'm in it everyday and my enthusiasm for coming into downtown on weekends is very low as a result.

That said, we do enjoy dining in East Nashville and Germantown especially. And if there's an event on a weekday afternoon, I'd be more likely to come into town than in the evening when it gets a little more crowded and rowdy. That said, we're going to a concert at Bridgestone in a couple of weeks and I'm hoping to get to a couple of Preds games this season as well.

Parking is expensive. It has to be for something I really want to do before I'll go. I'd say I may go around 4-5 times a year and I live 6 miles away.

Yes on the bolded parts. I live 2 miles from Broadway and work downtown. Luckily, I also have free parking in my building. I go to a lot of concerts (Bridgestone and Ryman) and am a Preds full season ticket holder and TPAC Broadway series season ticket holder, and one of my NFL teams has watch parties at a bar on Broadway, so I'm down here anywhere from 5 to 7 days/nights per week. Actually, if they made the 5th & Broad tower into condos instead of the apts they are planning, I'd move there and never have to drive. And there is now a Publix in Capitol View and soon there will be Whole Foods.

Most of my Preds STH pals live in the burbs (or further - Chatt/west TN), so they are downtown 30-40 games per year.

I was a Symphony member until 5 or 6 years ago.
It became too much of a headache to go to downtown.

We don't...only to the Ryman or Bridgestone for a show/concert.

Can you elaborate on which adjacent neighborhoods have good nightlife without the hassle? Thanks!

Midtown, Vandyland, West End, Belmont Village. 12 South.

Use the Scene to check out clubs like the Bluebird, Exit-In, Station-In, something special at the Grand Ole Opry Hose (in Nov thru Feb the Opry is at the Ryman).

The "hassle zone" may be anywhere near Broadway from 1st to about 4th & 5th.

Add the Gulch, pockets of West Nash/The Nations, and other parts of East Nashville along the Gallatin corridor.
