HI!! I am hoping and planning to move to the Nashville area this summer. Can anyone share their opinion on the best place to live in the surrounding area of Nashville? I want a small town close to the big city. I have three children so I prefer for them to be in a smaller school system (but a really good one)

I have heard that Hendersonville is really nice? Any input would be appreciated!

greatschools.com can give you info on schools like how many kids per teacher and grades they get from state testing and so on. I just moved to Mt. Juliet which is just outside Nashville and I love it here! Its so clean, the schools are great and the people are very friendly. Good luck on your move!

You might also look at Franklin; maybe Mt. Juliet as well.

Hendersonville is a great area (in my opinion). It all depends on what your likes/dislikes are... how much property you want, how much you want to spend, commute time, ect.?? I have 3 children as well and we are planning a move to Hendersonville from NY in the next couple of months. We are having a home built in a new development there called "Creekside". If you give a liitle more info on exactly what your looking for, that will narrow your choices a bit more. Franklin and Mt. Juliet are also very nice, as mentioned in the above posts.

You need to check out The Maples in Hendersonville. Great neighborhood that is zoned for the best schools in Sumner County. Also, once your kids (assuming you have boys) get an eyeful of the chicks at the neighborhood pool, they won't want to be anywhere else. I've always said that the underage girls who go there should have to wear a certain color bathing suit to identify themselves, and keep guys like me out of jail!

Seriously, Hendersonville is very nice, with some excellent schools, and Streets of Indian Lake/lifestyle community development just starting is adding to that very nicely.

The Indian Lake peninsula has a blue ribbon elementary school in the zone for (I think) East Drive and south/east of there. Nannie Berry serves the area to the north/west up to Main Street. Both schools are outstanding. I can't say enough good things about Hendersonville. It is growing at a healthy clip, but with low crime, community pride, clean streets, and a great mix of residents from professional to blue collar families. We attend the Catholic parish there (our lady of the lake), and we love it. We moved from Texas in 1997. Plus, the lake is a great amenity that a lot of other nice communities in the Nashville area can not offer.
