Apparently it's in Linkedin article about top 20 US Cities. But no where do you see cities such as, Charlotte, Baltimore, etc. Has Nashville become in top tier? With cities like Denver, Minneapolis aligning with the other top cities such as NYC and the like. Is this true?? I am curious about it more than anything

Based on my time there I agree. I found it to be a paradise. I am confident if I lived there I would control myself and not become an alcoholic. But, when I was there Church st was my oyster. Whoooaaaa baby!!

This is implying that locals hang out downtown every night, which could not be further from the truth. If the arena wasn't on Broadway and the Ryman wasn't near it, I'm not sure any more than 1 percent of locals would go down there for any reason.

As far as a top 20 city.....uh....sure why not?

Except for the thousands of us who work downtown.

But Church Street? The gay bars?

Well yeah, I worked downtown for several years as well and I didn't include work because I meant for leisure time since the post referenced not being able to control themselves if they lived in Nashville, which implies the honky tonk bars, but whatever. I should be more specific. Of course I guess everyone has a different mental definition of what encompasses "downtown" based on any number of things. I guess over the years my mind just grew to associate downtown to be "roughly" the area between Rosa Parks/8th Ave to the west, the river to the east, and maybe Charlotte Ave to the north and Korean Vets to the south, obviously centering around Lower Broadway. But I know most people probably have wildly different boundaries. I live and grew up about 15 miles east of downtown so I tend to forget that people actually live down there in fairly significant numbers these days.

Thousands of people actually live within the boundaries you mentioned. And in case people haven’t been there lately, lower Broadway is not the only thing downtown anymore. One could go to a different bar or restaurant every night for a month and never step foot on Broadway.

that is such truth, Nashville expanding well beyond the honky tonks and such

There was a survey from Linkedin on job prospects of top 20 cities, where this came from

As a local, I can tell you I still avoid "downtown" for more reasons than my disdain for Broadway, bachelorette parties and drunk tourists. Those reasons include, but are not limited to, the absurdly overpriced parking options (sometimes I will park for free at Nissan Stadium and walk over the pedestrian bridge, but that is less than appealing when it's raining or super cold) and overpriced eats & drinks at the luxury hotels. I frequent Germantown far more often - parking & culinary offerings are both significantly better than downtown.

And yet, I have friends who are also locals who LOVE downtown, so to each, their own. I guess I stopped drinking the Kool-Aid at some point in time.
