My husband's boss is moving his company to Tennessee in the summer. His boss is from Tennessee (Clarksville area) and has been helpful in terns of helping us select area that we want to live in. We've decided we want to live in Cheathem County. The decision now is which city? Pegram, Kingston Springs, Ashland City or Pleasant View. We do have two school aged children and I want to make sure that the schools they attend are adequate. We plan to buy a 1 or 2 acre lot and build a house .If one had to choose between the 4 which would you choose and why? I initially tbought Kingston Springs because of the schools but the real estate agent said in her opinion the schools are just as good, but that Ashland City has a "poorer" population and does not teach to the test. The drive to Clarksville area will take much longer if we move to Pegram or Kingston Springs.

It's actually a violation of the Fair Housing Act for your real estate agent to talk about schools or demographics. S/he is not supposed to steer you towards or away from any city or neighborhood. There are lots of websites that will address schools scores, etc. just an FYI.

I am a true believer of the old saying Seeing is Believing. If you can, visit one weekend to each area and see how you like it. If you find one that is promising, then look at the proximity from that area to work. Next go to this website to help you on school ratings:

https://www.tn.gov/education/topic/report-card

Your visits and research for schools should help you move in the right direction.

If work is in Clarksville then I would move to Clarksville and avoid any of the 4 places mentioned. There isn't much NW of Nashville along I-24.

From any of the 4 you would have the problem of driving on I-40 to Briley Parkway then pick up I-24. This can take nearly an hour.

If work was in Nashville you could try Ashland City before the other 3. Pegram, Kingston Springs are all very small communities with little access to I-40. The state highway is a 2 lane very slow.

If your boss is moving from somewhere to Nashville there may be some relocation benefits thru the State or a local real estate agent to help you.

GWoodle, i think you need a geography lesson on Cheatham County. Why would the poster take interstate 40 or Briley Parkway to go from Pleasant View or Ashland City to Clarksville? Also, Pegram and Kingston Springs are right by I-40 with great access to the interstate. The most logical choice would be Pleasant View. A growing community with decent schools right off I-24 just two exits up from Clarksville. Many on this board attempt to give advice on the areas north and west of Nashville without knowing much about the areas other than thinking it is too far out to live when in fact you can be in Nashville much quicker than those that live south and east of Nashville in many cases due to traffic. The schools aren't terrible like many tend to think as well. Not long ago, Dickson County had the highest high school history standardized test scores of any County in the area including Williamson.
