Hello all!
Im seriously considering a move to your wonderful city and seeking any and all advice you can dish out. Im looking to rent a house to start my journey in Nashville and would love an area that's safe and has a neighborhood feel with close proximity to a (local) coffee shop, restaurants, maybe even a bookstore (ok, ok, now Im just dreaming lol), but you get it, a sense of community!!
Im not looking to be downtown downtown; I prefer a neighborhood/burbs feel, but close to all of the above mentioned.

Thank you in advance for your advice!!!

How much are you planning to spend on rent?

I can spend up to 1700 but would prefer to stay around the 1200-1500 range. Thanks!

And you really want a house? You need a yard? Not an apartment or a townhome . . You'll be working in downtown Nashville? What's a tolerable commute for you?

I would work from home, for the most part. Might have to be downtown a couple days a week. I need a house and yard for a dog. And 20ish mins is good for a commute, Im just looking for that sense of community and great neighborhood!

OK. One place to start is realtracs.com. Here are the houses in your price range in WILLIAMSON County which is south of Nashville - about 20 to 30 minutes into downtown depending on what time you are leaving.

http://www.realtracs.com/SearchResul...E7GRBbNqem5uUQ

Brentwood Pointe is condos . . I think they have a little back yard space. Very close to Cool Springs which has a lot of restaurants and shopping but not sure it would be called neighborly!

Most of the "neighborhood" type places in your price range (barely) would be more likely to be apartments closer to town, like in the Gulch.

Downtown Franklin is very cute, coffee shops and even a bookstore but I don't think you'll find any house in the area in your price range except that one on Fair Street (which I would like to move into!) but it says NO PETS.

So, if you found a place within 10 - 15 minutes of downtown Franklin, that might be good enough for you?

I have NO IDEA about other cities in other counties like Hendersonville or Mt Juliet but maybe someone else will chime in. In Davidson County, East Nashville is neighborly . . . have to be a little careful there. "Safety" is street by street. There's a house in Crieve Hall that has as big yard but not sure what the neighborhood is like as yards are big.

I think a HOUSE with a yard in a "Great" neighborhood (I'm thinking maybe Sylvan Park?) might be tough in your price range. You can find a house but you'll have to drive to the neighborhood, I think?

Finding a "walkable" neighborhood here is hard (unless you move into a high rise). Meaning a neighborhood where you could walk to the coffee shop, bookstore, etc. The area around Vanderbilt might be like that but you're competing with heaps of students for the privilege.

take a look at East Nashville or Inglewood. More affordable than the Gulch and across the River from downtown.

Here's a website about downtown Franklin:

Downtown Franklin Tennessee

But feel free to float places by folks on the board (a lot are busy with Christmas it seems) . . .

I thought I edited my post to add East Nashville and Inglewood but must have pushed the wrong key.

Here's the Google group for East Nashville . . . check it out!

It's just that some streets are 'gentrified' and some are not and it's popular so might be above your price range. COOL though . .
