I am appalled at the prices these mom and pop antique malls throughout middle TN get! I just drove to sleepy little Watertown - even there the prices were on the moon..I am new here - are the garage sales the place to go? Or auctions? If so, any specific ones that are really good? Does anyone specialize in estate sales? The flea market in Lebanon was just awful. What about that once a month market in Nashville? The only places I have had any luck are the consignment stores..I like reproduction quality mahagony or cherry pieces - hepplewhite, regency, etc. Doesn't have to antique per say, by the way..thanks!

Come to the flea market at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds, tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday.

Its usually on the fourth weekend of every month, with the exception being December. Then it is held on the 2nd weekend.

I bought a beautiful mahogany quilt rack there for my daughter. Come on out tomorrow, its fun!

Lots of choices in Franklin. From the OMG imported inventoried shops to something out of Grandma's basement and everything in between.

Also, try Berniece Denton's Estate Sales. You can get on her email list and look at much of each sale's items online before deciding whether to go or not.

Happy hunting!

Default Estelle's and online options

I have found good deals on antiques at Estelle's consigment shop on 8th av s downtown, at the Habitat store (also on 8th) as well as through a couple of local online options: craigslist and nashville's backpage.

Franklin has some beautiful antiques. Check out Antiques at the Factory Franklin and Lysbeth antiques. They have some beautiful antiques and some fantastic values in estate jewelry. I've visited several times from Florida and they are a must stop!!

Talk about expensive - that would be Bernice auctions!

I've had great luck with them. Make them an offer. Leave an offer slip with them in case the piece you like doesn't sell. They've accepted my offers several times. Wonderful deals on some beautiful pieces-before AND after the sale.
