Hi.

I am planning on moving to Nashville this summer and am looking for some advice as to where I should be apartment hunting. I am visiting in May to check out some of the neighborhoods and am trying to get a game plan together for where all I should look.

I am a 27 year old single female. I am a CPA and moving to Nashville for a new job. I have been living in the DC/Northern Virginia area for 6 years now and would like to be in a neighborhood that is close to bars/restaurants, etc. I am moving there alone, so I want to be in an area where it would be able to meet people my age. I love happy hours, being social, going to concerts, being able to walk places and of course country music.

I currently live in Arlington, Virginia in a townhome and pay $1,200 for my portion of the rent, so I would like to keep my rent at about that or less. (I would be willing to pay a little more if I am living alone).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

What part of town is your new job? That might help sort out a few recommendations for areas to look first.

Search the forum (upper right in the blue bar with no threads open) for threads on The Gulch - you might like that area? Not sure about the budget but I think you can afford it.

Budget is on the low end for the Gulch, though might be a tiny studio someplace for $1,200.

Here is a recent thread about The Gulch:

Miss Vickie is moving there this month, I think. Try DMing her to see where she ended up!

Thanks guys! The Gulch is one of the areas I am planning on looking at when I come down to visit. My new job is located near where 24 and 440 meet. It looks to be a little over 5 miles from the Gulch neighborhood, which doesn't seem too bad. I'm used to rush hour traffic/commuting after living in the DC area for 6 years.

A few people have also mentioned 12 South and Edgehill, so I may check those out as well.

Is finding a roommate easy in Nashville, or do most people live alone? In DC/Northern Virginia everyone has roommates and everyone finds them on Craiglist. (like I said... I pay $1,200 a month now for just my portion of a 4-bedroom townhouse.. our total rent is $4,500 a month!)

And @Countrygirl2b, I'll definitely reach out to Miss Vickie and see where she ended up and what her thoughts are. We seem to be looking for similar living situations.

Thanks again!
