A question for both native Nashvillians as well as transplants: Is there a product and/or service that you would like to see in the Nashville area? It's suburbs?

You're looking to relocate? Have you visited here? We pretty much have almost everything you could ask for. Some would say we don't have very good pizza. And I would like a Crate & Barrel and an IKEA and an H&M. We do have Trader Joe's, The Container Store, and a Nordstroms so it's just a matter of time.

I used to go to a place called Nik & Willie's in Boulder, CO. It was a take & bake pizza place. Always thought that was a good idea. They really piled on the toppings - almost an inch thick. Good value. I guess because they didn't have an electric bill for the pizza oven.

CountryGirl2B - hello! I'm looking to relocate and was just curious from a business perspective (being self-employed) if there was some niche that wasn't being served. I was thinking that maybe transplants would chime in with a list of things they couldn't find there or things they had at home that they miss, etc.

We have made two trips to the area - each lasting about a week - during which we spent 6-8 hours a day in the rental car visiting towns/areas, looking at developments/real estate, and talking to as many locals as we could. We are confident we'll fit in and will like it - but we need to develop a plan for earning a living too.

Las Paletas Gourmet Popsicles - 12 South - Nashville, TN

What Nashville needs is another item like Paletas that are homemade & would be unique to Nashville.

Might be a problem nationwide, but we find that people coming out of the local tech schools are not hireable. The schools are no preparing them for the workforce. Add that to the fact that they leave the the school with some FAT student loans, and they have a serious problem. Some get lucky and find an employer willing to pay them the money they need to stay ahead of the loans AND train them at the same time, but most just can't get hired.

Maybe some sort of crash course preparing them for the field they are going into. It wouldn't take much. Most of them have the raw skills, the school just failed to organize them into a marketable package. Offer job placement and get a reputation for providing quality people, and you'll do quite well.
