I like to eat out but am trying to also watch carb (and calorie) intake. Someone else mentioned carbs on the Sweet Tea thread but I didn't want to hijack it.

Some restaurants are just impossible to put something together that's on the diet unless you get a burger, no bun, no fries. And then you are paying $8 for a 1/4 pound of ground chuck.

Anyone recommend any diet friendly restaurants in Nashville/Franklin? Where you can easily substitute a salad or veggies that aren't already drenched in dressing or oil?

Thanks!

It is hard to eat out on a diet, especially if you're on a low carb diet. However, I've noticed most chain restaurants now offer low carb options on the menu. Still, I'm a little skeptical of how truly low carb they are...a lot of it depends on the preparation and if the cook isn't conscientous, it's easy to screw it up. Plus, who knows how tasty it actually is. It's not like they specialize in low carb options...sort of like a square peg in a round hole.

PF Chang's has a gluten free menu and some vegetarian options that are also low carb. Their lettuce wraps are pretty good. Cracker Barrel (of all places) has some low carb options too like grilled chicken, grilled trout, burger w/o bun, roast beef, chicken salad, etc (can you tell I'm looking on their menu?). So it is out there, you just have to check the websites before you head out to the restaurant and make careful selections.

Good luck.

Thanks Mr. Corleone, NEVER would have thought Cracker Barrel! I do try to look at online menus but sometimes it's "we're in Cool Springs, let's go eat lunch" so it would be nice to know a few who are low carb possible. I've had a salad at McDonalds with a nice chicken breast (grilled) on top that was pretty decent.

But the place smells like fries . . . . . I think you can inhale calories just by breathing in french fry aroma. Five Guys is REALLY bad for that!

Thanks again!
