We are currently living in Columbia, TN and I work in Nashville. My husband has been out of work since November of 2009, but at least he is covered by my health insurance. He is not feeling well at all and has an appointment on April 14th, as soon as they could get him in. Now, our landlord is coming over next weekend to "discuss things". We feel he will want us to move out since we are on a month to month tenancy and he had to replace the HVAC unit since we have not had heat for the last three winters (he doesn't care about the Landlord Tenant Act). We do not want to stay in Tennessee for the long term, so we are looking for a short term rental in the meantime. Does anyone have advice on either private rentals, apartments or duplexes that will take a 6 month lease and accept 2 indoor cats? We have never paid late and have excellent credit references. We are willing to pay more because of our cats, but they really are not a problem indoors as they have never been outside and so there are no fleas, etc. Anything between Columbia and Nashville would be OK, but must be less than $1000 per month. I know it's a long shot, but I thought I would ask. Thanks.

Gosh, Paula, just read your post and I see lots have viewed it.

First, sincere wishes that husband is ok and everything checks out for him, and I can only imagine the pressure you must be under when your mate is not feeling well and you feel you might be asked to move.

I found these links thru Zillow and there are rentals in your price range that might work altho I did not check out the specifics.

Columbia: Columbia TN Homes for Sale & Columbia Real Estate - Zillow

Spring Hill: Spring Hill TN Homes for Sale & Spring Hill Real Estate - Zillow

you can navigate the map with the curser and click on other areas around Nashville.

I hope everything works out for you and yours both healthwise and housewise.

Forgot that Trulia offers the same rental search as Zillow. Plug in your desired location (city) sort by: price (low to high) here is whats up for Spring Hill....
Spring Hill Apartments For Rent and other Spring Hill Rentals — Trulia.com
Craigslist would be another search option for rentals, but as my daughter found out when she was moving to NYC, there lurks the scammers. Should not be as much as a problem since you are moving local, tho.
Again, best of luck.

Thanks so much for the Zillow selection. That is one place I didn't look. I've been searching craigslist (kind of scary anymore) as well as RealTracs.com. I will check Zillow as well and expand the search!! Thanks again.

I saw this link on another thread and thought of you. Hotpads.com. it works well, once you choose your location from the USA map, you can grab and hold the map to move to different areas. saw there was a filter....maybe put in "cat ok"....?
