First off, go to the Publix website (at Welcome to Publix Super Markets, Inc.)
Go the the "news room" to see all new store openings, or planned in the future. (Also see the press release)
Publix New Store Openings

Yes, Publix offers Health Insurance for qualified full and part time associates.
The cost on a "per week/ per pay check" basis to have health insurance is very do-able and very reasonable, IMHO.
Here in Florida, we have Blue Cross/ Blue Shield. (Not sure, what kind of Health Insurance Provider they use in other states OTHER the FL)
On top of that, they offer dental, vision, 401 K, stock options (not a public stock option), long and short term disability, life insurance and a bonus programs.

Since Publix does not accept online applictions, you will have to go to a Publix location and use their application kiosk with your data, work history, experience and credentials.

There is supposed to be another store opening in Murfreesboro sometime this year. It has been held up, from what I have heard, the developer went out of business. As far as I know, it is still slated to open 2009.

As far as health insurance goes, Publix does contribute to the premium and the associate also pays a portion. It runs $18 a week for the associate. Family coverage is more, of course. In TN it is also Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

Kim - Are you referring to the one on the corner of St. Andrew's and 99. I want one there so badly!

Yes that's the one. It has been held up. I know they are talking to new developers, but who knows if they will make it by their target date or not? Right now it doesn't look like it.

Hmmm... closest one to me is like 250 miles away.

I wonder why they have not expanded into the northeast Tennessee metro area of the Tri-Cities?
