Looking for a good and cheap colorist for some highlights. I have dark brown hair and would like to lighten up a bit. I don't have to go to a high-end salon, just want someone to get the job done and well...

Unfortunately, I have found it's a choice. Cheap OR good.

If you find an exception, though, well done!

I agree with akm. I do know a couple really good ones at Unruli salon in Franklin. Valorie is their high tier and she has the highest fee. There is another good colorist there, named Frazier...his fees aren't as high.

Or when you find one who is both, you don't tell because it is already so hard to get an appt. with her.

After my original post that started this thread, I ended up going to Balan's Salon in Murfreesboro with Stephanie, and am happy!

Oh, that's the worst!

I got a nightmare of a cut a few years back at my regular salon on Music Row. I went to Studio Gaven to get it fixed. Now the stylists I saw at Gaven have started their own salon in the Factory called Juel. There are top tier stylists (Johnna) medium range (Eric) and newer (Elise). Eric colored my hair this morning and Elise cuts my son. I recommend them all.

Good luck.

Oh, wild, I was just at the Farmers Market and passed Juel . . 3 people in the back all dressed in stylist black. Are they expensive? (expensive being over $150?) Thanks everybody. I am thinking about getting a hat . . it's THAT bad. And with color, always a fear that the fix will make it worse!

Thanks much!
