Come on people! The fact that it is only 5 days til the end of the decade and no one has thought to start a thread on the best albums to grace the musical landscape over the past 10 years is sad; this is supposed to be a musical forum! Everyone should put together a list of their 25 favorite albums to come out between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2009. It doesn't have to be perfect, just make sure it adequately reflects your personal favorites.

This should be fun. It should allow you to share your favorite bands and artists with others and, most importantly, it's a great way to find great new artists that you may have never heard of! Broaden your horizons!

Bob Dylan...................................Love and Theft
Afro Latin Party
Baila Latin Dance Party
Bebel Gilberto..............................Tantotempo
Del McCoury Band.........................Del and the Boys
Wilco..........................................Yan kee Hotel Foxtrot
Ryan Adams and the Cardinals.........Jacsonville City Nights
Buena Vista Social Club
Old Crow Medicine Show.................OCMS
Alabina
My Morning Jacket.........................It Still Moves
Johnny Cash.................................The Man Comes Around
Muddy Waters...............................Hootchie Cootchie Man
Puccini.........................................Ul timate Puccini Collection
Arcade Fire...................................Funeral
JJ Cale.........................................To Tulsa and Back
Neko Case....................................Blackliste d
Lucinda Williams.............................World Without Tears
Little Honey

Some were beginners attempts to expand horizons (hence the Puccini) which I found I did enjoy.
But there are so many MORE that I absolutely wore out, thanks to Itunes . Bought music from Nine Inch Nails, Muse, She Wants Revenge, Dropkick Murphys, James Brown, Bootsy Collins, Greg Allman, Radiohead, Foo Fighters, The Killers, Green Day, Gorillaz, John Prine, Jerry Jeff Walker, The Hives, and Great Lakes Swimmers, not to mention the older music I added to my collection. And I just remembered all the contemporary latin music, including reggaeton (which was new to me and I loved) that I dipped into.

Not a bad mix for a 53 year old retired bohemian chick .

My favorites of the decade, music I own and never get tired of hearing:

1) De Stijl ~~ White Stripes

2) Speakerboxx/The Love Below ~~ Outkast

3) The Road to Escondido ~~ JJ Cale and Eric Clapton

4) Van Lear Rose ~~ Loretta Lynn

5) Fever to Tell ~~ Yeah Yeah Yeahs

6) American Idiot ~~ Green Day

7) By the Way ~~ Red Hot Chili Peppers
Stadium Arcadium was very good as well

8) I and Love and You ~~ Avett Brothers

Of course there are other bands whose songs I enjoy.

I love the indie Chutes Too Narrow/Fleet Foxes stuff, the Rapture's dancepunk stuff, LCD Soundsystem's North American Scum, and TV On the Radio's Golden Age and Wolf Like Me, and Radiohead's In Rainbows, etc.etc etc.

But the above list are full albums that I was able to consistently listen to over and over again.

?
AFAIK Muddy died in the '80's.
Is there something I am missing here?

I also thought of the Mermaid Avenue albums, 1998 and 2000, but the one I prefer was the first one.

I should have also put Mark Knopfler's Shangri-La to my list. I've listened to it over and over again, more than his others of this decade.
