"Heavy Metal (Takin' A Ride)" was written and recorded by Don Felder. Slade doesn't appear on the Heavy Metal soundtrack.

Which is odd...since I pulled that off the credits at the end of the flick. A VHS copy I bought back in the 90s, as soon as it became available. Biggern' day it says Slade did that track. That's... yea..weird..

Maybe it was another film? I scrolled through Slade's profile on Discogs (an excellent resource) and there's no connection to Heavy Metal whatsoever. I've loved the movie (and magazine) since '80-'81.

LOL. I'm not sure where you purchased this "VHS copy" but Don Felder's "Heavy Metal (Takin' A Ride)" doesn't peripherally sound like a Slade song. Don's and Noddy's voices couldn't be more dissimilar unless one or the other went full-on cookie monster.

You can also check the credits here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082509/...f_=tt_ql_trv_7
