Before Thin Lizzy's most EPIC curtain bow, the kick-in-the-pants that is their 1983 album Thunder and Lightning, then-new guitarist John Sykes and Lizzy singer/bassist/lyricist/genius frontman Phil Lynott (R.I.P.) collaborated on this great single in '82.
Helping out, of course, are fellow Lizzy bandmates, drummer and timekeeper extraordinaire Brian Downey and keyboardist Darren Wharton.
Sykes' guitar solo melts in your mouth...not in your hands!
This is from Barry White's 1987 album entitled "The Right Night & Barry White".
This is a little known entry in Barry White's catalog. I'm guessing it's a failed "comeback" album in some ways. But it's more musically interesting than his "successful" comeback in The Icon Is Love from 1994.
I really would love to see this album remastered in some way. Considering it was a flop, we won't see it. But the arrangements in the album are at least very interesting and layered. But I think bad production makes it hard to isolate the sound. Making everything seem flat and garbled.
While I think the 80s synths pay off a lot in this particular song, and the only hit from this album "Sho you right". For the most part on his actual slow jams, his voice overpowers the synths. It doesn't quite mix well.
Barry White only had about maybe 4 albums in the 80s, so it's a very obscure part of his massive catalogue. And I think it represents a pretty interesting time in his career.
