Thin Lizzy's late frontman Philip Parris Lynott had his first of two solo albums, Solo in Soho, released in 1980. Two singles, "Dear Miss Lonely Hearts" and "King's Call," were released.
But "Somebody Else's Dream" is not on that album, nor on Phil's second record, 1982's The Philip Lynott Album. The song was the B-side of a Europe-only single called "Together," and both were produced by Ultravox's Midge Ure.
In fact, this performance is billed as "Philip Lynott & Friends," not Phil Lynott.
This is a perfect blues rock song, with weighty lyrics and a sharp harmonica solo by none other than Phil's chum, Huey Lewis.
Yes! THAT Huey Lewis. Huey's old band Clover (in its second and final incarnation) opened for Thin Lizzy in the late '70s and Huey & Phil became fast friends.
On drums is Thin Lizzy co-founder Brian Downey, along with longtime Lizzy keyboardist Darren Wharton, and Trouble Boys guitarist Billy Bremner.
