Default The 80's? Yuk!

Everyone seems to be on an 80's kick as of late, romanticizing one of the WORST decades in history, according to me.
Reagan was prez & he scared the **** out of us because he was a war hawk, and everyone knew there was no place left to go but nuclear. Reagan didn't exactly come out and say "nuclear war" directly, he more hinted at it. Brezhnev and him did not get along. Reagan & Gorbachev got on a bit better. This era prompted the No Nukes movement.
There was recession and inflation both in that decade. I couldn't find a job anywhere. A diner I went to downtown to apply for a waitress position wanted five years experience and membership in the union.
Alot of good music came out of the 80's, and MTV was launched. However, there was extreme disparity of wealth. Families were thrust into poverty and homelessness as jobs and livelihoods were lost and factories went under. Meanwhile, Wall Street was making 20 something millionaires left and right. Young brokers were having cocaine brought to their offices. It was a decade of decadence for some, and destitution for others.
