Amazingly coincidentally, my father was near the end of a three year battle with esophageal cancer when Ozzy(!!) came out with See You On The Other Side. Shredded me every time I heard it , but found it hauntingly beautiful. It was around for a couple of months, but so was my dad. He stuck around long enough to meet his first grandson, and to pass on my birthday in 1996. While this is one of two or three truly tragic events in my life, still find the song meaningful to me.

My sister's husband died in February. He was a musician/singer so there are a TON of songs that remind us of him. I have to turn those songs off, especially if I'm driving to a customer's site...can't arrive a big redfaced mess. Most of those are country songs, especially Troubadour by George Strait these days.

I hate that some really good love songs are ruined for me now because they take me back to when I was married to my ex. Ick.

That's very similiar to mine. My dad was dying of esophageal cancer as well, when the song Philadelphia from Bruce Springsteen was on the charts. The words to the song described a dying man with aids, but it could just as well have decribed a cancer patient. He died in 1994, and to this day that song will take me back 15 years like it was yesterday.

There are a couple by Lionel Richie that remind me of my high school sweetheart, they still bring tears to my eyes. I think of him as the one that got away.

I can't remember if I answered this one:

Tears in heaven reminds me of

1. My grandmother's death since it was played often around the time she passed away.

2. Living here in NY during 9-11.

Strange Way -Firefall- In 1978 my husband's(then boyfriend) cousin was murdered in Indpls In known as the Burger Chef murders, 4 teenagers were abducted from a Burger Chef where they worked and taken away and executed. This song was popular and sounded sad and always made me think of this tragic event. In memory of his cousin Ruth Ellen Shelton.
