Ok, she has personal beliefs that are contrary to a policy the Boy Scouts of America maintains. No problems there, everyone is free to believe what they want.
However, she accepted an invitation to sing at the Jamboree (according to news reports) and then canceled. That is BS, did she not know of the policy? It isn't a secret and if Ms. Jepsen has such a firm belief system that directs their business (yes, singers are a business) then who would accept invitations to events hosted by those with different beliefs? It comes down to nothing more than making news so that her beliefs are made public.
It would be one thing if the Boy Scouts of America was a small organization without well established policies that have been kept very quiet but that isn't the case here. If you aren't aware of the policy the Boy Scouts have then you probably need to get out more and at least pay some attention to what goes on in the world. This policy has made national news on more occasions that Jepsen has sung songs. If her handlers didn't know, then that doesn't say much about them either.
This was nothing more than a PR stunt and could have been accomplished with more class. As is turns out, maybe calling her was a bad idea since other than a single pop song, there isn't much else there anyway.
This has nothing to do with gays and everything to do with Jepsen trying to keep some relevance in the music industry since she really is a one hit wonder at this point.
