Prince is the King of this thread. I can always tell when Prince is behind a song. The lyrics have a certain flow and tempo to them. Sorry about that last one. I HATE that song!!!!
But they also recorded Desperado, right? It's all kinda tricky.
Jackson Browne gave Take It Easy to the Eagles in 1972, and I think one of the Eagles (Glen Frey) wrote the final verse to it. Browne did eventually record it, a year later.
Otis Redding wrote and recorded Respect two years before Aretha Franklin, but the two songs sound so different from each other. Still, her version, though she made it a signature song, is officially a cover.
