2 songs have a faux pop-gospel blues flavor. They were never hits. They were each on albums released in April 1977 and October 1977. Both on Columbia Records
The April 1977 album did not have any hits from the album but the October 1977 album certainly did
The song from the April 1977 album, the song title was the same as the album title itself
The October 1977 album was the artist's major commercial breakthrough
the April 1977 album was the artist's first solo album after having broken up with their partner; they were a folk-rock band
album was pretty obscure, especially if you are a 20 something. it was bluish and the title written in script with a pic of the artist on front. tho it is filed under pop/rock in record stores, upon further introspection it's really more like jazz/soul/pop fusion. the song from it (which coincides with the album title) in fact might be a good tune to play during the holidays. it's a bit of a tearjerker like the other song from the October 1977 album
both artists are caucasian
here's some hint: the April 1977 album artist is Scotch-Irish,
the October 1977 album artist is Turkish Jewish
the October album was black and white with a pic of the artist on it
faux pop gospel blues, so if you are immediately thinking of gospel per se, you'll never guess it. there are only traces of gospel in the main chorus of both tunes, it's not the real thing
investigate investigate!! April 1977, April 1977!!
