My favorite was Julie and Julia. I grew up watching Julia Child cook and just loved her. Meryl absolutely nailed that performance. It is such a warm and cozy movie, and one one of the few I plan to see again.

I just smiled during the entire movie.

I did not like Avatar - biggest dissapointment of the year. Also Blind Side was so annoying

Favorite movies: Not in order

Hurt Locker
Up in the Air
Star Trek
Precious
Hangover
500 Days of Summer
Public Enemies - surprised more people didn't like it - best gun scene ever
Crazy Hearts

I see the thread title was asking for favorite movie - I don't know, the best time I had all year at the movies was when I saw Hangover. I think Hurt Locker was the best movie of the year. But if someone stuck a gun to my head and made me pick my favorite movie I would pick Up in the Air

What did you like about it? I like George, but I thought that movie was kind of slow, depressing and sad in an empty way. It seemed to showcase the shallowness of people.

You are not the first person that told me they thought it was kind of slow. I was just thoroughly entertained for 2 hours, and just had a great feeling the whole time. Not depressing at all. great acting, exc ellent writing, very topical - I thought it was very true.
