I would have to say Gone With The Wind. Although they tried to remake it with Scarlett, I had a terrible time trying to imagine that story in relation to the original. Watching the movie just made it worse.

Movies in which the main character and the actor who portrays him MADE the movie...Cool Hand Luke being one example.

Or Inspector Clouseau - too late, Steve Martin butchered this role anyways. I refuse to see his version.
